Archbishop Lynne McNaughton was born and raised in Alberta, baptized and confirmed in the Diocese of Athabasca, then lived in the Diocese of Calgary where she served as a lay reader. She lived in Vancouver from 1982 until she moved to Kelowna for her episcopal ministry in the Diocese of Kootenay in 2019. Archbishop Lynne is married to Gerald Hobbs, a second marriage for both of them. He is a retired United Church Minister and Professor Emeritus of History and Music at Vancouver School of Theology. She was for many years a Girl Guide Leader. Her passions include reading, hiking, gardening, travelling, cycling, and backyard bird watching.
Before COVID, she and her husband enjoyed season tickets to the symphony and to local live theatre. According to her, she “plays a mean tambourine” and has two adult children who teach her much from their current involvement in the church. She also considers herself a faithful servant to two cats.
